Everyone has rights. I know the people might be scared of suspected terrorists, but murderers aren't the nicest people either, and they get their rights? The constitution is what we follow, and that goes for every person who lives in our country. If they are guilty, they will be found guilty, but they should get the fair trial. It may start out a supposed terrorists getting their rights taken away, but sooner or later it will move on to the general public, and we will get our rights stripped from us.

5/10 Judd

Keith Judd, a democrat presidential candidate, got 42% of West virginias democratic vote. Now, I very much dislike Obama, but I also don't want an inmate being our president. HE was arrested for extortion and a threat to the University of New Mexico. Neither Obama nor Judd physically campaigned in our state.  I voted for Keith Judd, not knowing anything about him, just wanting Obama out of office. I can't say I regret my decision, even after I found out the truth. In November, I will be voting for anyone but Obama.

Mr.Benner-perry

Mr.Benner-Perry taught me a lot in his time here. He is a great speaker and really makes you want to listen and learn. When Mr.Benner-Perry was here we learned a lot about immigration and how different other countries are to us. We had to choose a country that we might immigrate to if the United States government was overthrown, and create a powerpoint on it. It really made me learn a lot. We also learned a lot about the economy. Not only did we learn the basics of economy, but we had to have a mock job, pay mock bills, and learn what exactly it is like to live in the economy we have.

Liking a facebook page is definitely part of speech. It is showing your opinion and likes and dislikes of certain things. Liking something on facebook is not a reason to fire someone. Sheriff Roberts states that he fires these people for poor working ability and that he wanted to replace them with sworn deputies. This is clearly not true. Mr.Carter, one of the workers that had been fired, states that the sheriff was angry after a meeting where the facebook issues were mentioned.

Friday, a teacher in New Jersey was put on paid leave. An autistic boy's father had put a recording device on his son, because teacher's had said he was acting out in class. What he discovered was appalling. Teacher's were calling the child inappropriate names and talking about a hangover right in front of him. After the child's father had informed the school about this, they did nothing. So he uploaded the video online, and it went viral. All the teachers have been placed on leave at this point.

Seven people died in a car accident in New York Sunday. The car plunged over a guardrail into a zoo. Luckily, there were no people or animals at the bottom of it. All of the people in the car were pronounced dead on the scene. Police say the driver overcompensated when the left side of the SUV ran into the berrier. It was a horrific accident.

There was a shooting in Arizona. A man named Daniel Adkins knew something was wrong when animal control officers brought his son's dog to his doorstep. The 29-year old man was shot at taco bell. He has the mental capacity of a 13-year old boy, The shooter has raised self defense and the whole situation brings up the contrversial issue of using an armed weapon to defend yourself.

1.) What does it mean to you to save money? It means a lot. It is important to save money for when theres emergencys or something, and you might need it.

2.) Are you good at saving money? Why or Why not? I think I'm pretty good at it. I realize necessities are more important than anything.

3.) What are some ways for you to get better at saving money? Maybe once I actually start having my own money I'll realize it's important to save it. Just doing this activity makes me realize how difficult it is and how much money I actually need. Don't buy things you don't need.

4.) Why is it good to put money in the bank? So you have a place to safely keep it all.

5.) Do you think it is important to save your money ? I think it's very important. Money is hard to come by and you need to spend it wisely so you don't starve and die.

Some soldiers will be transferred out of Japan. Some of the soldiers will be tranferred to Guam, in preparation for a miltatry buildup. Some will also be sent to Ha waii and Australia. Japan's foreign minister agrees with this action, and says it is satisfactory. The pressure to leave Okinawa started in 1995 when three U.S personell raped a 12 year old Japanese girl

Arizona immigration laws have changed, causing one man's business to plummet. He sells tortillas for a living. Even though there is a recession going on, the new immigrant laws have had more of an impact on it than that. The new law has torn apart families and communities, and the people claim there are way more important issues than immigration. But not everybody disagrees with the law. You can still immigrate legally, but it specifically calls out illegal immigrants.

Kurt Mix is facing a maximum penalty of 21 years in prison and a fine of $250,000 dollars for each count if found guilty. He deleted text messages that authorities had requested about a huge oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. They attempted to stop the oil flow by a "Top Kill" but it did not work because the oil flow was too much. BP was telling the public that it was way less, though.Mix is in big trouble beause of this.

4/24

1.) What are five things you have learned about environmental abuses during this project? People get sick from polluting the enviroment, everyday little things can hurt the enviroment, trees are important to the enviroment, plastic takes a million years to deteriorate, the U.S isnt as polluted as a lot of countries.
2.) Is this abuse one of the most important problems facing the world today? Yes, i believe so. We aren't planting enough trees to make up for the ones we cut down. We might try, but we are cutting down trees too frequently when theres really not that much need.
3.) Is the solution proposed a practical solution to the problem? Why? Yes. If i saw a recycling bin or garbage can more often, I wouldn't be tempted to throw it on the ground. I would like to be more aware about what littering and not recycling does to the enviroment.
4.) What in your opinion is the most important environmental about facing our world today? why? Cutting down trees, and litering are both extremely important. The garbage pollutes our land, water, and air.  Cutting down trees causes animals and plants to die, and damages the land.

4/24

No. Honestly, video games have nothing to do with murderers. They would murder people whether there was violent video games or not. There are plenty of other ways he could have trained in shooting a gun. Does a video game even actually prepare you to shoot somebody? No. You have to have a certain way of thinking to do that, and that has to do with the person, not what they play. This guy was sick.

I really don't care about what i've recently done on facebook. I think it's kind of creepy that they collect data on us and use it to give us ads we might be interested in, and that is how they make all of their money. I believe that if you want, all of your data should be deleted.

There is a clock that does not shut off unless you punch the date into a keyboard in a different room. It is a devil clock, it sounds like. Paul Sammut, a 25 year old engineer invented this clock. He says that he even gets up before the clock goes off because he fears it. The clock cost $350 and took off quickly after he demonstrated the clock on kickstart.com

A man in Norway killed 77 people, claiming that it was self defense. Which is pretty ignorant. He claims he was protecting Norway against multiculturism and Islam. He will face only 21 years in prison if found sane. You can get 21 years for drunk driving and accidentally killing somebody, so how fair is that? He was caught smiling on camera, while he planted a bomb, then attacked and island of innocent camp goers. This is where the death penalty would come in handy.

4/16/12

In my honest opinion, schools do not care about a child's well being, or state of mind. The only thing most of them care about is their paycheck. They can treat us how they want, and let other kids treat eachother as they want. There is absolutely no authority, and if there is, it's over dumb things like how many chairs are at a table, or when we go to our locker. Neither of those things are going to help us to be better people, and get along with eachother. Bullying is an issue, and I'm not saying that it is possible to outright stop it, but there are things to do that can improve how people feel about themselves and eachother. There is extrmely too much inequality.

4/13 man beat and robbed

A man was beaten and robbed in Baltimore. A man is just standing there when he gets robbed. He pursues the thief and gets punched and knocked down. He then got stripped and all people did was laugh at him. I think that it's really sad the world has come to this. The Baltimore police have identified one man included in the crime, and they are attempting to identify the rest. "This behavior will not be tollerated." states Detective Nicole Monroe.

Brazil
1. Brazil is MDC.
2.Brazil allows imigration, but you must get a permanent visa.
3.Brazil has iron ore, Bauxite, manganese, gold, rubber, clay, brazil nut, oil, and diamonds are just some. It is very hot in Brazil.
4.Brazil is big in mining. It is the biggest producer of hydroelectric power, sugar cane, coffee, orange juice, and tobacco.
5.one Brazilian real is worth $.50

3/29

Wednesday morning the body of a 4-year old missing boy was found. His remains were found in South Fork River. There were tshirts that belonged to the boy found along the place he was last seen. There has been no foul play suspected, meaning that it was probably some type of accident. After asking to catch up with some friends at the cabin area of Kia Kima Scout Reservation, he disappeared.

4/10

Facebook is becoming extremely lame. I think that they need to stay out of every other sites/apps business. I hate facebook accessing crap that they have no business in. It is cool that you can post photos onto facebook and other social networks. That is what makes people want to actually be a part of instagram. But actually linking facebook and instagram will not be a good idea.

People are deciding how much power congress will have. It is kind of a competition against the state and federal government. There are some main issues; Constitutionality of the individual mandate. Whether the individual mandate is a "tax", Whether other parts of the law can survive if the mandate is struck down, Federal vs. state conflict over expansion of the cooperative Medicaid program.

3/23 ipad

There is a newer version of the ipad out. It has a clearer screen and has 4g's. Some people say that the new ipad was not improved and updated enough to actually be called a "new" version of ipad. A lot of people agree that the new ipad is great, because they might be into photographer or downloading movies onto the ipad, and it has better screen resolution and memory. It will be the same price as the ipad 2, ranging depending on the wi-fi capability and memory usage.
Friday at 8a.m was the release of this new ipad. It also went on sale Friday in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

3/23 kermit

Kermit the frog is up to date with new technology, even though he is now 55 years old! He has a twitter, and a facebook, but can't use a cell phone because there is bad service in the swamp. It's pretty funny, actually. You're not cool if you don't have a twitter or facebook.

3/23 facebook passwords

There was a case where an employer asked the job applicant to hand over their facebook email and passowrd. This did not go over very well, so now all they have to do is open they're facebook page while on the interview. I believe what people post publicly should be allowed to be evaluated, but the private stuff like messages definitely should not.

3/21 Boy shot in Florida.

A boy in Florida was shot by a neighborhood watch man. He was an African-American 17 year old male. Zimmerman was not arrested because he claimed that it was self defense. There are phone call records taht say otherwise, though,. There is outrage in the town, and against the police. There has been a petition started to land Zimmerman in jail. It is thought to be an act of racism, but Zimmerman's family claims that he is far from racist. The records say he is white, but he is actually hispanic.

3/20 in vitro

In vitro babies are not considered American citizens. A woman tried to get citizenship for her in vitro children and they said that unless she could prove the father was a U.S citizen that they were not. I think it is absolutely ridiculous. I believe if you were born in America, you are an American citizen, an American woman gave birth, so why isn't her baby American?

3/19 art and video games.

Video games should definitely be considered a type of art form. Games don't just come from nowhere, there is actually a reason and story behind them. Video games can move people, and do move people. It is a type of art, visually and emotionally. There is a wide varity of games. It is just like movies and films and those are considered art forms.

There will be a new social game, mainly aimed at women. This game is being created by Self magazine. It will be about fitness, beauty, fashion, and wellness. Some sponsors will be facebook and skype. The game was inspired by watching the community and things they do. They say that a lot of women are spending a lot of their time gaming, especially on facebook. It is named after the event called "Self Workout in the Park."

3/14

I think that social media networks have a huge effect on campaigns and who people decide to vote for. I'm not skeptical about whether we can predict who is going to win by looking on twitter, facebook, etc. Most people around the U.S voice their opinions on networks such as these. Politial campaigners now have facebook pages specifically for them, and they can see when people are talking about them. Romney is predicted to win by seven states on Super Tuesday.

1 in 3 people under the age of 26 are smokers. A lot of it is blamed on the smoking industry's marketing. They don't use any of the money that they've said they would on trying to curb underage smoking, like they were supposed to according to the Tobacco Master Settlement Agreement of 1998. They've tried to raise taxes on tobacco, but it hasn't been effective. I believe there definitely should be smoke free laws. There is absolutely no point to smoking.

3/12 fantasy politics.

I don't even know what fantasy sports are. I think fantasy polotics could teach you a lot about real polotics, though. It is kind of retarded, though. Don't people have anything better to do with their time than sit around and play pretend real life?

3/9 password

Trustwave says that the number one password used for company computers is "Password1" This is just plain out dumb. And if they have to change their password, they make the simplest changes as possible. The fact that the website may ask you to change your password can make it hard to commit it to your memory.Sometimes the people even write the password that protects their computer, on that very computer! Trustwave also says that keystroke logging software is very easy to hack into.

3/8 searching speed.

This article is about nobody wanting to wait for their search results and videos to load. Most people will just click off the web browser if it takes too long. It takes a smartphone an average of nine seconds to load a full video, and a computer takes an average of 3.5 seconds in the U.S. Akaimi technology is a coorperation that wishes to speed up the time it takes to search on a smartphone. They are saying that it is the next big challenge.

3/7 smart phones

A survey was conducted to show how many people own smartphones. Which is most of the population. The lowest percentage of people who got smartphones was age 62 and up. A lot of people do not even know whether they own a smartphone or not, although the percentage of people who did not know has gone down in recent years.

BE IT ENACTED BY STUDENT CONGRESS ASSEMBLED THAT:

We help reduce the chances of child abuse by making it a greater crime if you abuse your children.

If youare caught hitting, kicking, slapping, burning, starving, neglecting, or emotionally and mentally

harming your children, it will be considered a federal crime and will be taken to high court.

You will have to be approved before you are allowed a child. There will be a backround check, and a
home examination before your child is born.

There will be a required class for all woman preparing to have children.

They will need to pass this class, and be approved before the birth of their child.

There will be more child abuse centers accessable to the public.

Five children die a day from child abuse.

In 1999, an estimated 3,244,00 were reported to CPS.

Since then the number has gone up more than 50,000.

A report of child abuse is made every ten seconds.

In 2005, 899,000 children were victims of child abuse, maltreatment, and neglect.

If any person fails to report the sighting of child abuse, that person shall recieve a fine of up to $2,000.

This includes the striking of a child in public, unattendance of a child, or unrational anger towards

their child.

Childhood victims of abuse are 59% more likely to be arrested as a juvenile.

Therefore; without child abuse there would be a great deal less crime.

One-third of all parents who were abused as a child typically abuse their children.

About 80% of 21 year olds that were abused as children met the criteria for at least one psychological

disorder.

Abused children are 25% more likely to experience teen pregnancy, which ultimately leads to even

more child abuse.

These order will be forced to be obeyed by the state of West Virginia.

Datasift has formed an alliance with Twitter. Twitter has agreed to give Datasift permission to access tweets clear back from January 2010. While I don't completely agree with this, we did it to ourselves. We made out tweets open to the public and now they are viewing and using them. There is a ton of information that this company will get from Twitter. Other companies will pay Datasift to view these tweets to know more about their customers, and Datasift will be paying twitter a portion of that.

3/2 lorax

  • What was the land of the Lorax like before the Once-ler arrived? Did it seem like someplace you'd like to live? What parts of your own environment would you be sad to see go?

  • It was beautiful and peaceful and happy. Yes, I would have liked to live there. I would be sad to see the wildlife go, and the pretty sky.

  • What kind of person is the Once-ler? Why won't he listen to the Lorax? The Lorax says to the Once-ler, "You are crazy with greed." Why does the Lorax say that? Do you agree or disagree?

  • The Once-ler is greedy. HE won't listen because he wants money. The loraz says that because all the Once-ler wants is money. I agree with the lorax.

  • Why does the Lorax speak for the trees? Why is it important to speak up for others? Have you ever spoken up for someone else? Has someone else ever spoken up for you?

  • He knows what will happen to the trees. You need to stand up for people because it's the right thing to do. I have spoken up for people, but not many people have spoken up for me.

  • How does the Once-ler's Thneed business hurt the land of the Lorax? What happens to the Swomee-swans, the Brown Bar-ba-loots, and the Humming-fish? How could things have been different if the Once-ler listened to the Lorax?

  • He cuts down all the trees! All the animals have to leave because of the smog and the trees being gone. It could have been avoided.

  • What do you think the boy hearing the story will do with the Truffula seed that the Once-ler tosses to him? What would you do if you were the boy?

  • He will go plant a tree and take care of it. I would do that.

  • Do you think the Lorax and his friends will come back if new Truffula Trees grow? Where do you think they have been?

  • Yes! They will thank him, but they might have left for good.

  • The Once-ler says, "Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." What does the Once-ler mean? Can one person make a difference? Can you? What are some things you can do to better your own environment?

  •  It means that the only way that things will get better is if someone cares. Yes, one person can make a difference, but not without challenge. Yes. I can plant trees!

  • How does the Once-ler feel about what his Thneed business did to the Lorax and friends?

  • He feels bad to see them go but is too selfish to care about anything but his business.

  • Dr. Seuss used bright colors on some pages of the book and dull colors on others. Did you notice this? Why do you think he did that? Yes, it gives more feeling to the mood of the story, and what things are going on in the plot.

  • Why is The Lorax called a cautionary tale?

  • It's warning us that things have consequences.
  • 3/2

There is a new app, and it is to let blind people be able to text on smart phone! It is some kind of electric brail system and has only 6 buttons. Some visually impaired people were able to text up to 32 words per minute with 92% accuracy. I think this is a great invention! A lot of people multi-task while texting. It would actually make things safer. We woudlnt have to look down while texting. This app will be free. There will be more tests to see if people would actually prefer this or not.

    3/1 pope tweeting

The pope is tweeting for each day of the thirty days of lent. They want to see how big of an impact it will make. I think it will make a great impact. Everyone gets on twitter! He can easily spread a lot of catholic ideas with the amount of letters you have available for a status on twitter. It's about time that the pope joins twitter! He will probably get addicted to it, like every other human being.

    2/29 world of warcraft

Some researchers decided to do a study on World of Warcraft and how it affects older people's intelligence. They took a few people ages 60-77 and had them play warcraft for two hours a day, for two weeks. They gave them tests before they started playing. World of warcraft seemed to improve the subjects spacial and focusing ability. It improved the most in people who scored lowest on the previous tests. The company that makes World of Warcraft did not fund this project, but the National Science Foundation did.

    2/28 social issues

Ezik, morality-  Morals have changed dramatically. Parents didn't treat their children good morals. People accept immoral things now.

Emily, child discipline- Whipping is not always the way to go. Sometimes it is necessary, though. Kids might get confused if parents don't always discipline their child.

Lee, death penalty- The daeth penalty, on one side, is fair. An eye for an eye. But how is one person to say another can be killed, who makes that their right?

    2/28 facebook and employment.

Researchers are now saying that looking at someones facebook can be more useful than an IQ test in deciding who to hire. A facebook page shows the persons personality, and a lot of private information. I think that if people are willing to show all this information and broadcast their personality, then they deserve to have it evaluated by future employers. I also thing an IQ test is important, also. Nobody wants to hire a not intelligent person. Checking out someones facebook is more important, though.

    2/27 facebook.

A man was forced to apologize on his facebook to his wife for 30 days after being prosecuted for posting bad things about his wife. I don't believe that he should have been forced to put anything on his facebook. It was his right, and many, many people post what they want to on facebook. If you punish one person for it, you should punish them all.

    2/24 texting trip

A woman was put on the news because she was caught texting and falling right on her face on camera.
I text and trip all the time. I don't blame someone else if I run into them, though. I think people will continue to text and walk and fall everywhere, even if someone does get hurt by it.

    2/23 Tanning beds,

A law was recently passed that states people under the age of 18 are not permitted to tan. They say teens who tan have a 75% greater risk of producing skin cancer with just one session, than teens who have never laid in a tanning bed. I think that they should just need parental consent. One way or another, teens are going to tan. A lot of people own tanning beds. And it is their own health, and they know the risk they're taking. We let 16 year olds drive cars, yet we won't let them in a tanning bed.

    2/22 military.

A man was prosecuted for saying that he had earned a medal from serving in the military and sustaining wounds. This law was made in 2006, to keep people from impersonating a soldier. Even when George Washington was president, he punished people who said they were medal winners when they really weren't. I do believe it to be fraud, pretending you are someone you are not. You should respect the people who serve you, not pretend to be a hero like them. The fact that the man announced it publicly, and it was an outright lie, is enough to punish him.

    Wednesday, February 22, 2012

    2/22

I agree with tge laws about having to produce an ID to vote. We need to have actual citizens voting and electing who will lead us. I understand that people without ID's are part of America, too. But if they aren't responsible enough to have an ID, why should they get to vote in something so important? Proof of citizenship is also something that should be required. The people voting for our leaders should definitely live in our country.

    2/21

I think it's absolutely retarded that this woman got in any trouble at all. It was clearly an accident and we have way bigger things to worry about than a woman accidentally stealing a 2 dollar pumpkin. They need to get their priorities straight adn focus on the actual problems. She could just get probation if she pleads guilty, but she won't do that.

    2/17

Monica Hussings and William Robinson Sr. were charges with attempted involuntary manslaughter. I don't think that the boy's parents should have got put in prison. It is not their fault that they didn't have the money to take care of him, but they definitely could have worked something out. Jail, I think, is taking it too far though. I'm sure they've suffered enouhg by losing their son. Their daughter claims that he was a normal 8 year old, and could do normal things, but the judge says that the pictures show the kid was extremely, obviously very sick. The parents had repeatedly tried to get help from social services, but still were told they had to pay.

    2/16

The SOPA act has good intentions, but I believe it to be too strict. They would be limiting most popular sites, to the point where people will rebel. I agree that something needs to be done, but what else can you do about piracy? People will continue to copyright, no matter what the bills. This bill may help, but it also may cause a lot of controversy.

    Wednesday, February 15, 2012

    2/15

I don't really care about the anti-piracy bills. I think that everyone is overreacting and that they should just pass the bill. All the sights need to stop telling us that it will hurt our internet interaction, because who cares when it makes everything and everyone safer? I think they should think about the people and not their personal problems.

    2/14

I do not think that google or any other site should be able to keep our private information. They like to assure us everything is safe for us, but is it really?  It is very concerning that hackers could hack into any site and display our conversations and personal information all over the internet. That is dangerous, and can cause many problems. Why do they need our private information anyway? We have rights, just as they do.

    Bills 2/10

Emily, Justice Kyle: I agree with it, but I think that the definition of healthy should be different. People would buy more healthy foods if they were cheaper.

Daniel, Bobby, Justin: I think it's a good idea.  It will stop people from automatically ordering fatty foods.

Benny, Lee, and Travis: I agree with this Bill. People eat way to much, and there's way too many calories in the serving. If we cut down on our eating AND the calories, America would be extremely healthier.

Ezik, Justin: I agree with this bill, it will allow people to have options, and also make them realize that the healthier choice is the best.

Amanda, Shannon: I agree with this bill, It will keep people healthy through the week, and have them look forward to eating junk on the weekends.

    2/10 Amish Girl

An amish girl was shot by a man cleaning his gun, 1.5 miles away from her. It seems far-fetched, but local police believe it to be an accident.I believe this shouldnt effect the second amendment at all. It was an accident, plain and simple. People die in car accidents, plane accident, many kinds of accident all the time. A fair punishment might be to take the man's guns away, but I don't think he should get in any trouble, as long as he had a permit to own the gun.

    2/9

First amendment: Freedom of speech, press, religion, assembly, petition.
Second amendment: Right to bear arms.
    Third amendment: Quartering of soldiers.
Fourth amendment: No unreasonable searches and seizures. Have to have a search warrant.
Fifth amendment: Cannot be forced to incriminate yourself. Double jeopardy.
sixth amendment.- a right to a speedy trial, right to an attorney, right to know why you've been charged, right to a jury.
seventh amendment- civil case, a person sues another, no federal government involved. over 20 dollars
eighth amendment- no cruel and unusual punishment
ninth amendment- rights that arent mentioned in the constitution
    tenth amendment.- state rights.

    2/9 Police Brutality

I believe it's only right for us to be able to record what police do. They shouldn't be doing anything they don't want seen by the public. They're supposed to be the goodness in our community, keeping everything peaceful, not causing disruption and abusing people. If they can record us, why can't we record them? We're all people and we should all be treated equal. They do abuse our amendments by confiscating our belongings without just reason, and our freedom of press.

    2/8 Death Penalty

I do agree with the death penalty. But after reading some interesting facts about it, I'm not so sure. 183 people were on Death Row, but were proved innocent. Some were even minutes away from being executed. Four men were actually executed, that afterward were proved not guilty. This could be avoided. If there isn't absolute evidence, they shouldn't be on Death Row. Only certain crimes should be qualified as terrible enough to be executed for. Another issue might be the money it takes to execute these criminals. Reports show it costs far more to execute someone than to keep them in prison for life. But do some people deserve the life they were given, when all they do is wrtong, and abuse their freedoms?

    2/7 bacon milkshake.

Everyone loves bacon. That must be why they came out with the new bacon milkshake. I personally think it sounds disgusting, but scientists actually say that bacon is addictive. Fatty foods these days are addicting. It is a big problem in the world these days. One way to solve this problem, is don't eat so much fast food! its bad for you. It has preservatives, drugs that was injected into the animal, and to top it off we cook it in grease! We also need to stop deep frying EVERYTHING we eat. It might taste good, but look at our society and how unhealthy we are. There are so many diseases caused by just eating unhealthily.

    federalist papers.

The Federalist Papers are a series of 85 articles or essays promoting the ratification of the United States Constitution.

James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay wrote the Federalist Papers.

They wrote this under the name of "Publius"
Hamilton decided to use the name in honor of a great Roman named Publius Valerius Publicola, who was a founder of the republic.

    Federalist Paper number 10:
Federalist paper 10 is one of the most famous. James Madison wrote it this one. Federalist paper number 10 is continued from number 9. It is titled "The Same Subject Continued: The Utility of the Union as a Safeguard Against Domestic Faction and Insurrection."
Federalist number 10 is the guard against factions who are going against the right of other. Madison states that a large republic would be better to protect the rights than smaller ones. Scholars use this to interpret and explication of the meaning of the Constitution.

    Federalist Paper number 51:
This federalist paper is also one of the most famous, and was created by James Madison. It is the most cited Federalist. Federalist Paper number 51 takes off from Federalist number 47 and is titled "The Structure of the Government Must Furnish the Proper Checks and Balances Between the Different Departments." It talks about seperation of powers, and talked about how important it is to keep checks and balances within the government. It doesnt keep any specific part of the government too powerful.

    2/6 fifth amendment

Pros: We have the right to keep quiet and not get ourselves in more trouble. The schools can't spy on us just because of suspicion.

Cons: The teacher won't get in as much trouble as she should. The guy might be doing something really illegal on his computer and we won't find out for a long time. It wouldn't be as easy to see if the kid was doing drugs.

    2/2/12

Lincoln County Sheriff Jerry Bowman and County Cleerk Donald Whitten are pleading guilty to charges of voter fraud. There was an unusual amount of absentee votes in Lincoln County and it raised suspicion. They handed out the ballots and even marked them for some people. They are pleading guilty, and facing 10 years in jail and a $250,000. Bowman is pleading guilty to "conspiracy against rights" and Whitten is pleading guilty to lying to an investigator with the Secretary of State's office.

    2/1 texting bill

Pros: We will be safer on the roads, knowing that people won't be concerned with their phone. I won't be as tempted to text and drive. There will be less people wrecking. People will pay more attention and drive safer.

Cons: I can't text and drive. There might be an emergency. People will be talking on the phone all the time now, both talking and texting should be illegal, unless you pull over.

    1/31 movie review

This movie was very good. I liked the fact that the president actually had great character. It shows how much struggle it is to be president of the United States and even how hard it was for all of his colleagues. Even one little decision can make you lose a whole campaign. It was hard for the president to be a normal person. He couldn't even order flowers for his girlfriend, and even having a girlfriend was difficult. It showed how hard it was to take care of out country while having a personal life. His decisions couldn't be based on what made him happy, but what made him have more votes. In the end, he did what he felt was right, and stood up for what he believed. Even if he didn't get the votes that he needed. I believe he was right in saying that being president was about character. Even if you try and fake a good character, people can see through it. Especially being publicized the way presidents are. Just because people make certain decisions doesn't make them have a bad character, though. He decided to pass a crime bill, to get more votes, but knew it wasn't the right decision. The other bill was the fossil fuel bill.

    1/30 and 1/31

The president likes this woman who is a political strategist named Sydney. At first, she doesnt think it's a good idea for them to date because he's so powerful and busy. The people start questioning whether having a girlfriend will affect his presidency. Everyone says that having a girlfriend questions his presidency. The press will not leave Sydney alone, and the other presidential candidate keeps making false accusations. He agrees to a crime plan and that does not go over well with Sydney. The president gets sick of the other candidate bringing his personal life into the campaign. He throws out the crime bill and him and Sydney stay together.

    1/26

The State of the Union address is a speech annually given by the president. He speaks to congress about his agenda for being president and also how the nation is presently doing. President Barack Obama delivered his State of the Union speech from 9 p.m to 10:17 p.m on January 24. He focused on creating new energy sources, improving education, and using expenses that were formerly used on the war wisely.

He stated that he would like Universities to find a way to lower the cost of higher education. He believes everyone should be able to afford college. He calls on the states to require kids to stay in school until they're 18 years old.

I agree on kids having to stay in school until they're 18. I also agree on his plan to have higher taxes for wealthier people.

    1/25 State of Union

Obama has stated that he wants to make the prices for homes lower by reducing interest rates. He plans to make up for the money by making some kind of fee on banks. Obama says that oil production is at an eight year high, and we are depending on foreign countries for less than 50% of our oil. Republicans wanted Obama to allow a pipeline to go from Canada to Texas for more oil, but Obama did not speak of this controversy.

    1/24

It is too hard for me to trade and get products from other states. They are taxing our goods and we are taxing theirs, the prices are getting higher and higher. Not only that, but our ships keep getting raided by pirates. None of us want congress to have so much power, though.

Since congress had to have 9 out of 13 states agreeing, they could not change the articles.
They could not tax anything, they could not regulate trade, and they could not raise an army. None of the states really complied with the congress.

    1/24 GPS tracking

It was ruled yesterday that GPS tracking now needs a warrant. According to our fourth amendment rights, we are protected against unfair search and seizure, which some people believe GPS tracking falls under. Now law inforcement will need warrants to place a GPS on suspected vehicles.

I believe in this decision. It is your private right to go where you please. When they attach a GPS to your car, they are violating your freedom. If they cannot search a home without reliable evidence, they should not be able to track somebody's driving schedule without evidence.

    1/23 Articles of Confederation

What was it? The articles are like a set of rules to keep the thirteen states in line.

Why was it created? The Articles of Confederation was created to unite the thirteen states into a kind of friendship.

What were its main features? It's main features were the rights to people. How much freedom we get and how to treat other people.

Why did it have these features? So we could keep all the states in peace, and have no argument on what is right or wrong, and how to run things.

The weakness in this as a plan of government is we have a lot of freedom according to the constituion. The government is basically set out to control us and what we pay or do, and basically they couldn't. They couldn't tax us, and the national government couldn't force states to do anything.

Article number 2. Article number 5. Article number 1. Article number 10. Article number 12.
The articles caused failure of the government because it states that the will of the people are the basis of the articles.

    http://www.foxnews.com/health/2012/01/20/babies-with-3-parents-could-be-born-soon-scientists-say/

British scientist have discovered a way to stop genetic diseases that could be passed on to children from their birth parents, by technically adding another parent. The third parent would not pass any genetic material on to the offspring. They hope to show that this is a safe and effective way of preventing many diseases. I believe that if successful, this method is a great thing.

    1/20

    1) What do you know about the U.S government? I know about the amendments. We have to pay taxes. We have a president. There are three branches that share powers. They can overpower the president.

    2) What do you think about the U.S government's role in our society? They control us, and how much money we actually get. A lot of people hate the government, but they do keep our society in check.

3)What would you like to learn or feel you need to know about our government? I feel I need to know exactly the process of passing laws, and I need to know more about each branch and even all the different positions of people in the government.

    John Locke

WHO: John Locke was a British pholosopher. He was also known for his liberal, anti-authoritarian theory of the state. He believed that we have rights to our own beliefs, and our own rules.

What: john locke was was famous for arguing that the divine right of kings is supported neither by scripture nor by the use of reason. He is an English philosopher the "Father of Liberalism." Many of the values American claim to hold dear are due in part to his influence. Locke, the English philosopher had a huge impact on the social contract and liberal theories and on the development of both epistemology and physical philosophy. His ideology is reflected in the American Declaration of Independence. His concepts of identity later influenced Rousseau and Voltaire, along with many other Enlightenment scholars and American Revolutionaries.

WHEN: John Locke was born in 1632 and he died in 1704.

Where: John Locke was born in Wrington, Somerset, England.
WHY: He believed in the seperation of powers. He also beleieved that revolution was an obligation. He believed in owning land, and having freedoms.

HOW: He had a great impact on the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the U.S. He also had great influence with the concept of natural rights, which is life, liberty and property.

    1/19

Pros: You can use the First Amendment to protect yourself. His verdict can be appealed.

Con: I could get abused online and no one would get in trouble! There is little chance of the verdict getting appealed.

    1/19 all civics

On January 18, 2012, many sites protested a bill trying to be passed to stop piracy. There was a blackout, with many sites. This means they just blacked out their websites, and Google even had a link where you could sign a petition against the bill. I understand that piracy is a big problem, but I also understand people needing to express their opinions and information.

    1/18

I do not agree with the judge in this case. Yes, he has freedom of speech but he has no right to harass people like that. If I went around telling people to kill themselves, I could get in serious trouble. Just because it was over twitter makes it no less serious. It is wrong, and he should have been charged.
